You are working very hard, and what keeps you going is achieving small goals along the way. Do you like that feeling?

The feeling that motivates you to be creative, to solve problems and overcome challenges as they arrive, to innovate. There’s one thing you need for maintaining that energy flow: Feedback.

In nature, everything works by action and reaction. Well, we are part of nature, which we forget at times. When we get good feedback it motivates us to do more, and when we get bad or no feedback at all, we tend to lose that internal flame which keeps us going.

If your product is not being purchased, if no one is looking for your services, if you receive only negative feedback it won’t be long until you feel like you don’t want to keep doing what you are doing, whether you have your own business, or you are promoting a product as part of a company. Even if you like what you’re doing, your motivation will probably drop if no one acknowledges it in some way. This is assuming you like what you do, if not, that’s a whole different issue.

We are social creatures, and this is the reason that we survive as a species that doesn’t have much of a defense mechanism to start with: no eyes in our back, no thorns or ink we can splash, we need each other in order to survive, and since we are built to live in communities we need people to tell us that we bring value.

Well, you get the idea, so we can return now from the deep ocean to the office. When we develop a product, we do it for others, and their feedback is what drives us to do more. Yeah I know, it’s also about the money… but when a person works only for the money without feeling the passion there is less creativity, less motivation to solve problems and fight for success, less patience to deal with customers and generally less effort put into the business, giving it less chances to succeed.

People are like human sensors, and if you don’t believe in your product they will sense it, and automatically be drawn away from it when you present it or provide service to them. They will feel that you are not enthusiastic about it, so why should they be?? Getting bad feedback isn’t pleasant… so what can you do about it?

Business owners, sales personnel, marketing managers, and other customer-facing people who want to be persuasive – you should remind yourselves before meeting your potential customers or creating your marketing messages :

  • Why is my product important?

  • What value does it bring to people?

  • Does it save time? Does it streamline businesses?

  • Why should I be proud to present it?

With this kind of attitude and with an elevated spirit and being proud of it, you will come to the meeting with good vibes and you’ll be able to answer challenging questions and show your utmost belief in the product. This will get the customers also enthusiastic about it, and you’ll know you did your best. Along with the right ecosystem consisting of good market research, the right target audience, a clear USP and obviously a good product – you’ll have the best chances to get people interested, and to receive that motivating feedback, which will keep you going.

Feeling good about what we do brings us motivation. This makes us feel better, work with more passion, and receive good feedback, which makes us feel better, and so on… It’s an endless circle of good energy.

On one side, you have a potential customer, on the other side you have your product, and content is the communication channel between them.

Content creates an emotional impact on people this way or the other – It can make them want to hear more about the product, or not hear about it at all. Your content represents your company, your values, your vision, your willingness to contribute to other people, your authenticity, your passion.

Now ask yourself what value you bring to people’s lives, and let’s start creating great content.
